Electrical Engineering (EE) Print E-mail

The mission statement for the ECE Department: To provide students in ECE a rigorous learning experience that prepares them for professional careers.

EE Objectives: The EE program uses the term “objective” to describe the expected accomplishments of students in three to five years following graduation. The EE Objectives are as follows:

  • EE graduates will practice the profession of engineering using a systems perspective broad enough to encompass technological, economic, ethical, environmental, social, and human issues, shall demonstrate a facility for independent learning, and shall exercise continued professional development.
  • EE graduates will demonstrate technical depth and breadth in their discipline.
  • EE graduates will participate in design experiences including comprehensive, industrially-oriented design projects, oral presentations, and written communications.

EE Student Learning Outcomes: The EE program uses the term “student learning outcomes” to describe knowledge and skills that students demonstrate at the time of graduation. The EE Student Learning Outcomes are as follows.

At the time of graduation, students will:

  • Demonstrate a facility for independent learning
  • Be prepared for continued professional development
  • Demonstrate effective communications skills
  • Describe contemporary Issues that relate to electrical engineering
  • Describe the role of a professional engineer in global society
  • Have completed a general engineering science core plus a discipline-specific technical core
  • Effectively use contemporary tools of the engineering profession
  • Have completed a client-sponsored team design experience
